Natural cosmetic components. Coconut oil: inexpensive, healthy and multipurpose

Nowadays, we are more often reaching for natural beauty ingredients (such as coconut oil) because we are aware of the fact that they are effective and safe. They are valuable substitutes to cosmetics overloaded with chemical substances. What are the properties of coconut oil? Is it worth using?

Every time we reach for cosmetics, our aim is to obtain the best possible results in hair and skin care. Regardless whether we wish to overcome dandruff, smoothing out the face texture, or preventing the formation of fine lines, we always pay attention to the composition of the cosmetic and the effects it offers.

COCONUT OIL IN COSMETICS

Among the wide range of natural oil, coconut oil is the most distinctive. What are its properties?

It is a diversity of beautifying and conditioning ingredients

A good-quality coconut oil (unrefined and cold-pressed), abounds in a vast variety of beautifying and conditioning components. The most important ones include fatty acids, among which the main role is played by lauric acid. The set of vitamins (A, C, E and B) is also significant. When describing its valuable composition, we cannot forget about the wealth of minerals (zinc, phosphorus, magnesium and calcium). The combination of so many precious substances makes the oil a real nutritional boost.

Unbeatable when it comes to the price

To be honest, the price of coconut oil is it’s most often mentioned advantage. In fact, even the extra virgin oil which is considered better quality is a lot cheaper than, for instance, argan oil. What’s more, it is in no way worse when it comes to the properties and effects. Coconut oil’s availability and a very low price, make it often appear in the composition of body and hair care products. We also use it willingly as an independent cosmetic.

Works well for the skin and the hair

Another advantage of coconut oil is multitasking. There are no restrictions on the use of this product (unless we do not like when our hair smells of coconut). Coconut oil works well in both hair and skin care. You can use it for makeup removal, for skin care or for softening the cuticles before or after doing the manicure. You just have to remember that it will not always be suitable to apply it solo – sometimes it is better to use it, for instance, as a base for a home-made hair mask.
