Natural ingredients are more and more common in beauty products. The way they work is often better than the effect provided by substances in drugstore products. Check which ingredients your skin and hair need most.
CERAMIDES
These organic compounds belong to a group of fats. They are found in the corneum and seal the cells, shield from the loss of water and the action of external aggressors. They create a protective film on the skin surface and prevent the damage of natural hydro-lipid layer. In cosmetics, ceramides are added to products designed for dry and aging skin, and to hair care and styling products. Did you know that the skin has an ability to naturally produce ceramides? Too bad, it deteriorates when we grow older. The level of ceramides must be replenished through using the right products. The ingredients are extracted from plants e.g. soybean.
COENZYME Q10
Coenzyme Q10 is present in every cell of human body. It is responsible for the division and respiration of cells, skin elasticity and production of collagen. Coenzyme Q10 prevents the occurrence of wrinkles and delays skin aging processes. It improves the defensive functions of epidermis, moisturises, repairs, firms up the skin. In order to make coenzyme Q10 work even better, it is combined with liposomes in cosmetics. It is extracted from plants e.g. algae, tobacco leaves or high-grade vegetable oils.
COLLAGEN
It is one of the most important proteins in the human organism. It is the main ingredient in skin, bones, joints, cornea and internal organs. It affects the density, flexibility and bounce of skin and muscles. Collagen enhances immune system, shields from toxins and germs. Sadly, when we age, the level of collagen drops, resulting in the occurrence of wrinkles and age spots. You can block the process by using cosmetics containing collagen, as well as vitamins B and C, micro-nutrients and other smoothing, moisturising and firming substances which altogether complement the effect of collagen.
UREA
It naturally occurs in human body as a by-product of protein processes. Similarly to hyaluronic acid, urea is a humectant. It means that urea moisturises the skin, prevents the evaporation of water, seals the natural hydro-lipid barrier. Depending on the concentration, it has various effects: moisturising, exfoliating, softening and healing (in the case of acne skin). That is why products containing the highest concentration of urea are only available on prescription. Urea used in cosmetics or medication is synthetic, fully safe, not causing allergic reactions.
RETINOL
It is an organic compound which takes part in the process of growth, the proper function of mucosa, epidermis and vision. Retinol is used in anti-aging, anti-wrinkle and brightening products. Thanks to the ingredient, the skin is firm and has an even tone whereas wrinkles are shallower and less visible. Retinol-enriched products are used during anti-acne therapy and skin care. They purify the pores, unblock the outlets of sebaceous glands and regulate the secretion of sebum. Retinol has a photosensitizing effect, therefore, it’s best to use in winter and autumn together with a sunblock.
