Blusher – How to apply and which shades to choose?

How to pick the right blusher?

The first valuable idea is suggested by Bobbi Brown brand. Shade of the cosmetic should be identical with either our natural blush or colour of lips. How to match these? Nip your cheek and just find the most suitable blusher’s shade. The second idea consists in comparing colour of your natural blush with shade of your fingertips since finger skin and cheek skin are alike. Having this in mind, apply a blusher on your palm and compare it with colour of your fingertips. Mind the tones (cold and warm) as well as pigments.

Is it possible to match a blusher with complexion? Yes, it is. To say even more, this is not a tough task to tackle. To illustrate, if you are an owner of pale complexion, pick the cosmetics of bright and pastel shades. Such women can make a use of pink shades or the ones with an orange additive. When it comes to yellowish complexion, it composes well with peach-like shades. In this case, texture of a product has to be either semi-transparent or sateen. Before buying a blusher, it has to be checked whether the consistency of the product is creamy, liquid or heavy pigmented. A blusher characterized by dense formula may cause that your face does not look radiant and fresh.
For medium complexion (also known as warm complexion) apricot-like shades are the most suitable ones, however, this is not all. Such a beauty type composes well also with orange or violet-and-pink shades with matte finish. If you decide to cover your cheeks with such a shade, do not forget to define your eyes and lips with cosmetics containing sparkling particles.
It is a good idea to decorate olive complexion with peach, pink with golden pigments as well as brown shades of a blusher. While doing make-up, use cosmetics of warm tones. In other words, try to warm up your face with the colour by adding freshness and gleam to it.
When it comes to women having dark complexion, these should apply heavy pigmented blushers. In such a case, red, dark orange and raisin shades are most favourable. Thanks to such shades, women will find no difficulties with contouring their face by giving it the perfect shape.

How to apply a blusher?

Generally speaking, techniques of putting on a blusher depend on both formula of a cosmetic and a face shape. For example, a loose blusher has to be applied using a make-up brush which diameter is similar to size of cheekbones. A cream blusher, in turn, should be put on with fingertips (in this way, the product is easy to distribute on a face). Obviously, the blusher has to be blended precisely, so as not to create sharp and obvious lines on a face. What is more, similar manner of application concerns a bronzer. These two cosmetics have to be blended skilfully.
Women having round face should reach for a matte blusher. This kind of a product has to be applied starting from an ear, along cheekbones heading towards lips. It is also advisable to skim a chin. Square-like face contouring depends on covering cheekbones diagonally. Additionally, this part of face can be covered with a bronzer. Women who have heart-like shape of face, are advised to apply a blusher on temples, outer part of a forehead and in the middle of cheekbones. Long face owners should apply a blusher only in one spot that is located under eyes and above tip of the nose line.
