Everything about make-up removal – what to use and how to remove your make-up?

If we were to mention the most important skin care ritual, it would certainly be make-up removal and skin cleansing. In Asia this part of skincare is considered a ritual, in Europe it does not receive the attention it should. Cleansing the face is the basis without which other elements of care will not work. Even if you had the best and the most luxurious cream – if the application is not preceded by thorough make-up removal, it will not work miracles. In fact, you can clean your face using several methods. What kind of make-up removal will be the best for you? Read on to check our hints!

1. Foaming face wash and facial wash gel

This is the largest ‘family’ of all make-up removers and face cleansers. This is also one of the most popular methods of cleansing. It is simple and effective – cleaning the face with such products is quick and there is a vast array of choice on the market so that everyone can find a cosmetic that suits them the most. Keep in mind, however, that they all require the use of water, hence they can slightly stretch the skin. Also, before you buy, take a look at its list of INCI and choose one that does not include synthetic chemicals, alcohols and comedogenic substances, such as SLS, SLES.

2. Micellar water

There was a time when micellar water was more popular than face foams or gels. It was used as a 3-in-1 cosmetic, for removing make-up, cleansing and skin toning. Today we know that in order to clean the skin thoroughly, micellar water should be treated as one of the stages of skin care – as a product for removing make-up. After its use, it is necessary to clean the skin with a gel, a foam or a cleansing milk (the last one should be rinsed with water). The micellar water contains micelles that are attracted to dirt and oil. If you want to remove waterproof cosmetics, it’s better to choose a two-phase micellar water. It contains oil which removes greasy and hard to remove make-up.

3. Cleansing oil-based make-up removers

Oil-based products are a hit in face care and cleansing. If you have not heard about the OCM method (the oil cleansing method), you should know that this is one of the most effective methods of make-up removal. Oils perfectly remove dirt, fat, sebum, toxins, strong and greasy cosmetic products. The rule is easy: nothing will remove grease better than a greasy product. Natural oils not only perfectly cleanse but also perfectly revitalize, regenerate, heal, relax, rejuvenate and nourish the skin. They contain good fatty acids, squalane, vitamins, minerals and plant sterols. The oils should be selected for the type of skin (each of the natural oils has slightly different properties, contains different fatty acids and vitamins).

4. Face wipes

It is quite a popular group of products: wipes are easy to use and quickly remove make-up. They will be perfect for a trip when we need a quick skin refreshment. Pre-moistened wipes are also perfect for cleansing the neck area on a hot day. They also refresh and tone the skin. Unfortunately, face wipes should not be used on a daily basis because they will not cleanse the skin thoroughly. Long use of such tissues can cause acne or blackheads.

5. Konjac sponge, sonic facial brush and other accessories

We need to admit that cleansing tools and accessories are becoming more and more popular. The latest hit is Foreo Sonic Cleansing Brush. Another good product is a glove from the Glov line. It is a phenomenal product with which you can perfectly clean you face using only… water. The secret lies in the special fibres from which the Glov is made. Konjac sponge is another great face cleansing gadget – you can even choose different types of it, such as natural, with clay, carbon, green tea… The original Konjac sponge is one of the most effective face cleansing products, because it also provides your skin with proper care and nutrition.
